R&D Raw Material Developer | Permanent | Burwood, NSW

A rare opportunity has become available for a R&D Raw Material Developer to join the Hanes Brands Design Team on a permanent basis in Burwood, NSW. Your key focus will be to manage specific raw material developments (fabrics, elastics, trims and colour and print development) across the Bonds category, ensuring they meet both brand and business requirements.

It's not just about researching new fabrics, trims and yarns in isolation: to be a success in this role you must be able to address end-user needs and commercial viability.

You are a confident and articulate communicator, able to work with cross functional stakeholders and key partners across Australia and Asia.

What will I be doing?

It's hard to account for a typical day, however expect to be involved in the following:

  • Research trends in yarns, fabrics and trims
  • Manage seasonal developments of new fabrics, prints and trims to ensure  the product brief is achieved on brand & within timeline
  • Working closely with value stream to problem solve any technical concerns and ensure countermeasures are put in place to avoid any re occurrence
  • Ensure all Raw Materials meet design aesthetics, quality standards, are fit for purpose & are commercially viable
  • Establish raw material specification & standards

What experience do I have?

  • Degree or Diploma in Textile Technology
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Fabric Development or Product Development
  • Comprehensive knowledge of fibres, yarns, knitting, dyeing, colouration & print techniques & test methods
  • Experience working with design & suppliers in a development role in a fast paced retail environment
  • Experience working and a collaborating as part of a cross functional multi location team. 
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills
